--> this isn't the original design of the flier, this is actually a redone version (which i never turned into my 322 class. waste huh?).

the original had more of stencil lettering and bigger. my intention was never to redo it to you all the truth and now looking at it...i agree with my first design. maybe i'll go back to it later and redo it (again!).

i got the information for this up in sf's asianweek newsletter/paper; this flier was for the hip hop summit 3 over in la, free food and all, if you can read the e-mail address then go e-mail the person for next year's or something up to you.

back to the design, i chose bright colors (contrast to the whole hip hop culture) because this flier's main goal was to attract passer-by's attention. for them to go check it out, if they're were in la or something. the weird shapes actually started out as being stars and strips but with a retro 70s look to it (another reason for the colors i chose to use) but realized it was looking right so i started trying the effects and filters in illustrator; bending and twisting and other crazy tools. when i came to this look of the flier i got a festive feely sense in me, which is what i wanted because summits can be fun plus it sounded fun so i stuck with it but changes can still be made with this though...and i'm thinking about it.
